The Wimberley Sidekick

The Sidekick offers the same general advantages of the original Wimberley but at less weight, size and cost by turning your monoball into a gimbal head by mounting to any ball head with an Arca-Swiss style quick release. Since your monoball is always mounted on your tripod, the Sidekick can be quickly removed when using smaller lenses. This unit uses the pan mechanism of the ball head but replaces the ball mechanism with an arm that contains an elevated tilt axis and a side mounted quick release to which your long lens is attached. This aligns the center of gravity of the lens with the tilt axis making the unit ideal for shooting action subjects. Lens compatibility are: all 300mm F2.8, Canon 500mm F4.5, Nikon manual 400mm F3.5, manual 500mm F4, manual 600mm F5.6, Nikon 500mm F4 silent wave with monopod foot ordered from Nikon and various smaller lenses.
